Bass Guitars

Bass guitars are similar to electric guitars.

Bass guitars are stringed instruments that give a deep tone and serves as a crucial link between the other instruments. It is commonly used at modern jazz, funk, country and disco music scenes. Bass guitars, while discussing the types of guitars, are guitars with really dense strings, admitting them to trifle truly low notes. There are acoustical and electrical types of guitars of this category, but almost all are electric. Bass guitars enable the musicians to play a very low note as they have very thick strings. An electric bass guitar is very common.

Acoustic Guitar

Acoustic is a favorite type of music today because of its relaxed and soulful rendition of songs. Acoustic guitars come in two types: those with nylon strings (mellower sound) and those with steel strings (more metallic sound, scratch guard on body’s face under strings, and thinner neck). They usually have a hollow wooden body with a thin front face or soundboard with a sound hole and a thin rear face, while electric guitars usually have a solid body. Acoustic-electric: this is a term used to describe acoustic guitars that have pickups installed in them so they can be plugged into amplifiers or PA systems. The majority of acoustic guitars you see on stage are acoustic-electrics.

Acoustic strings are steel (right hand picture). The only difference between the fat ones and the skinny strings are the fat strings have another winding around the string.

Classical guitars

Classical guitars are the father of all guitars. They have been used for many genres and all kinds of music. Classical guitars come with nylon strings which give the guitar a unique and colorful sound. The sizes of classical guitars have been standard for many years.

Classicals and flat-top acoustics cannot be adjusted. F-hole acoustics with movable bridges are easily adjusted. Classical guitars tend to be less expensive than comparable acoustic or electric guitars, so if you’re on a budget, a classical guitar is an excellent choice. Classical guitars use nylon for three of the strings, making them easier on the fingers, and they have a softer sound than other types of guitars.

Electric Guitars

Electric guitars are the next most common guitar especially in the 20th century. Electric guitars are known as the main attraction of rock music. These guitars have been famous since rock music was introduced and blend very well with jazz, pop and even blues music. The main difference between other guitars and electric guitars is that they are played with amplifiers because they are unable to produce sound without amplification.

Steel Guitars

Steel guitars acquired their name because they are literally made of steel. These types of guitars are played horizontally. A guitar player may place the guitar across his knees or legs or on a stand. The pedal steels of these guitars are the ones responsible for their unique sounds.
